Privacy Policy

Effective date: November 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Meat Stall Barbecue ("we," "us" or "our"), a business based in San Diego, California, collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit www.meatstallbarbecue.com (the "Site"), buy from our online store, place a Thanksgiving pickup order, send us a catering request, or contact us. It also explains the privacy rights California residents have under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (together, the "CCPA").

Questions or requests: email support@meatstallbarbecue.com or call (619) 802-7726.

1. Notice at collection (California)

This section tells you what we collect at or before the point of collection, why, whether we sell or share it, and how long we keep it. Sections 2 to 12 give more detail.

  • Identifiers and contact details (name, email address, phone number, and mailing or delivery details if you give them). Why: to take and fulfill orders, reply to you, send order messages, and send marketing email if you sign up. Shared with advertising partners: only the limited identifiers described in section 6, and only as described there. Kept: see section 9.

  • Commercial information (items ordered, pickup window, order totals, order status, cancellation and refund records). Why: to fulfill and support your order, keep business and tax records, and prevent mistakes. Not sold. Kept: see section 9.

  • Payment information. Card and wallet details are entered with our payment processors and are not stored by us; we receive a payment status and payment reference. Why: to process payment and refunds. Not sold or shared for advertising.

  • Internet and device activity (pages viewed, links clicked, approximate location from IP address, browser and device type, cookie and similar identifiers). Why: to run and secure the Site, measure how it is used, and measure and improve our advertising. Some of this may be treated as "sharing" under California law; see section 6 and your choices in section 7. Kept: see section 9.

  • Information you send us (catering request details such as event date, guest count, menu preferences and notes; messages to us). Why: to review and answer your request. Not sold or shared for advertising. Kept: see section 9.

  • Inferences and ad audiences. If you allow advertising cookies, our advertising partners may group you into audiences (for example, people who visited our Site). We do not build our own profiles beyond this.

We do not sell personal information for money. Some of our advertising and analytics tools may nonetheless count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law, so we give you the opt-out choices in section 7. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you or for purposes that would give you a right to limit its use.

2. Information we collect and where it comes from

We collect information:

  • Directly from you: when you place an order, check out, submit a catering request, fill in a form, sign up for email, create an account, or contact us.

  • Automatically: through cookies, pixels, scripts and similar technologies when you use the Site (section 6).

  • From service providers: for example, our website platform and payment processors tell us whether a payment succeeded, failed or was refunded.

3. Thanksgiving pickup orders

If you order Thanksgiving turkeys or cakes through our Site, we collect your name, email address, phone number, the items and quantities you order, the pickup window you choose, your order total, and records of payment status, cancellation and refund. Orders are held for a short time while you pay and are released if payment is not completed.

We use this information to take payment, confirm your order, send you an order confirmation and a pickup reminder by email, give you the pickup location by email before your pickup time, handle cancellations and refunds, and keep business and tax records. The pickup location is not posted on public pages. Access to order records is limited to authorized Meat Stall Barbecue staff.

We do not intentionally send your Thanksgiving order details or the pickup location to advertising or analytics tools. See section 6 for the shopping events our website platform may report.

4. Catering requests

Catering on our Site is a request process. If you send a catering request we collect your name, email address, phone number, event date and time, guest count, service type, menu choices, venue details and any notes you add. Submitting a request does not confirm a booking, and we do not collect a catering deposit or payment through the Site. We use this information to review availability and pricing and to reply to you. We do not use catering request details for advertising.

5. How we use personal information

  • To provide the Site, our online store and our ordering services.

  • To process payments, cancellations and refunds, and to detect and prevent fraud and misuse.

  • To communicate with you about your order, request or question, including order confirmations and pickup reminders.

  • To send marketing email if you have signed up, with an unsubscribe link in every message.

  • To understand how the Site is used and to measure and improve our advertising, if you allow analytics and advertising cookies.

  • To keep our business records, meet legal and tax obligations, and protect our rights.

6. Cookies, analytics and advertising technologies

Our Site is built on Wix and uses cookies and similar technologies. Essential cookies keep the Site secure and working (for example, your cart and checkout). Other technologies are used for analytics and advertising:

  • Google Analytics (Google Analytics 4, and a legacy Universal Analytics tag still installed on the Site): reports how visitors use the Site.

  • Google Ads conversion measurement: measures whether visits lead to purchases or other actions on our Site.

  • Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram advertising): measures actions on the Site and helps us show our ads to people who may be interested. Our website platform may also send certain shopping events (for example, a purchase from our online store) to Meta directly from its servers through the Meta Conversions API. These server-to-server events may include limited customer identifiers that our platform provides, such as browser and IP details and, where available, contact details in hashed form. These events may not be controlled by the cookie banner. To opt out, follow the steps in section 7. From November 12, 2026, we may also use Meta's on-device measurement features.

  • Retarget (AdTechium): an advertising retargeting integration connected to our Site.

  • Klaviyo: an email marketing tool whose Site script may set a cookie to recognize visitors who have signed up or clicked through our emails.

  • Privy: a sign-up pop-up tool previously used on the Site. It is not in active use, and information it collected earlier (about 368 contacts) is kept as described in section 9.

  • Twipla: a session-recording tool. Recording on the Site was turned off on October 22, 2026. Recordings made before then are kept as described in section 9.

Advertising partners such as Google and Meta may use the information they receive for their own purposes under their own privacy policies. Learn more at policies.google.com/privacy and facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Our Site also uses a cookie banner. Non-essential cookies are meant to stay off until you allow them (see section 7).

7. Your choices about cookies and advertising

  • Cookie banner: when you first visit, our cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie settings control on the Site.

  • Browser controls: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop checkout from working.

  • Ad platform controls: you can adjust ad personalization in your Google and Meta account settings.

  • Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: if you do not want your information sold or shared for cross-context behavioral advertising, decline non-essential cookies in the cookie banner, or email support@meatstallbarbecue.com with the subject "Do Not Sell or Share" and we will act on your request.

  • Browser opt-out signals (Global Privacy Control): analytics and advertising cookies are meant to stay off until you allow them through our banner, so we do not set them for visitors who have not allowed them. If you send a Global Privacy Control signal and have previously allowed cookies, please withdraw your choice using the cookie settings control or email us, and we will treat your signal as an opt-out request.

  • Do Not Track: we do not currently respond to Do Not Track browser signals.

8. Your California privacy rights

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use, disclose, sell or share, and why, including the categories of sources and third parties.

  • Access the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you.

  • Delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions (for example, records we must keep for tax purposes).

  • Correct inaccurate personal information.

  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information (section 7).

  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information in ways that give rise to this right.

  • Not be treated unfairly for using these rights. We will not deny you goods or services, charge you different prices, or give you a different quality of service because you use them. We do not offer financial incentives for personal information.

To make a request, email support@meatstallbarbecue.com or call (619) 802-7726. We may ask for details to verify your identity, such as the name, email address and phone number on your order, and we will match them to our records. We do not need more than that for most requests. You may use an authorized agent; we may ask for written proof of their authority and may ask you to verify your identity with us directly. We confirm receipt of a request within 10 business days and respond within 45 days; if we need more time we will tell you why and may extend by up to 45 more days. If we cannot honor a request, we will explain why. If you disagree with our decision you may contact us again. You can also contact the California Privacy Protection Agency at cppa.ca.gov or the California Attorney General.

9. How long we keep information

  • Thanksgiving order records: order, payment-status and refund records are kept up to seven years for tax and accounting purposes. Customer phone numbers and order notes are deleted or redacted by January 31, 2027.

  • Catering requests: kept while we respond to you and for a reasonable period afterward for our business records, then deleted or de-identified.

  • Customer service messages and email: kept as long as needed to help you and for our records.

  • Marketing email subscribers: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your information. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a suppression list so we do not email you again.

  • Analytics and advertising data: kept by our analytics and advertising providers under their own retention settings and policies.

  • Twipla session recordings made before October 22, 2026 (about 81 recordings): kept until we delete them or they expire under Twipla's retention settings.

  • Privy sign-up contacts (about 368 contacts): kept until we delete them, or until you ask us to.

  • We may keep information longer where the law requires it, for a dispute, or to prevent fraud.

10. Email marketing and text messages

We send marketing email only to people who have signed up or are otherwise permitted by law to receive it. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link; you can also email support@meatstallbarbecue.com to unsubscribe. Order confirmations, pickup reminders and similar service messages are not marketing and may still be sent for orders you place.

We do not currently send text messages. If we begin to send text messages in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and obtain any consent the law requires before we send any.

11. Sharing personal information

We do not sell personal information for money. We share personal information as follows:

  • Service providers that act on our behalf: our website and hosting platform (Wix), payment processors, email delivery tools, and analytics and marketing tools described in section 6. They may use the information only to provide services to us, except as described in section 6 for advertising partners.

  • Advertising partners (Google, Meta and Retarget): limited online identifiers and activity as described in section 6, which may be treated as "sharing" under California law.

  • Legal and safety: when required by law, subpoena or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our customers, our staff or the public.

  • Business changes: if we sell or transfer all or part of our business, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

12. Security, children and changes

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards, including restricting access to order records to authorized staff, and our payment processors protect card details. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date above shows the latest version. If we make material changes we will post the new version on this page.
